Triangular flow in event - by - event ideal hydrodynamics in Au + Au collisions at √ sN N = 200 A GeV

The first calculation of triangular flow v3 in Au+Au collisions at √sNN = 200A GeV from an event-by-event (3 + 1) d transport+ hydrodynamics hybrid approach is presented. As a response to the initial triangularity 3 of the collision zone, v3 is computed in a similar way to the standard event-plane analysis for elliptic flow v2. It is found that the triangular flow exhibits weak centrality depen...

Event-by-event analysis of ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions in smoothed particle hydrodynamics

The method of smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) is applied for ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions. The SPH method has several advantages in studying event-by-event fluctuations, which attract much attention in looking for quark gluon plasma (QGP) formation, because it gives a rather simple scheme for solving hydrodynamical equations. Using initial conditions for Au+Au collisions at RHIC...

On Event–by–Event Fluctuations in Nuclear Collisions

We demonstrate that a new type of analysis in heavy–ion collisions, based on an event– by–event analysis of the transverse momentum distribution, allows us to obtain information on secondary interactions and collective behaviour that is not available from the inclusive spectra. Using a random walk model as a simple phenomenological description of initial state scattering in collisions with heav...

Event-by-event Physics in Relativistic Heavy-ion Collisions

Motivated by forthcoming experiments at RHIC and LHC, and results from SPS, a review is given of the present state of event-by-event fluctuations in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions. Fluctuations in particle multiplicities, ratios, transverse momenta, rapidity, etc. are calculated in participant nucleon as well as thermal models. The physical observables, including multiplicity, kaon to p...

Study of Event-by-event Fluctuations in Heavy Ion Collisions

We propose Kolmogorov-Smirnov test as a means for recognising event-by-event fluctuations of rapidity distributions in relativistic heavy ion collisions. Such fluctuations may be induced by the spinodal decomposition of the rapidly expanding system during the 1st order quark-hadron phase transition.
